Winton Global Homes is looking forward to a very busy building season in 2008.
Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) says in its British Columbia Region Highlights, First Quarter 2008:
"Residential Construction Above Average: Housing starts will be above average, but move lower in 2008 and 2009 as economic and job growth slow."
Regionally, we expect parts of BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan to experience growth.
- the Peace
- the Kootenays
- the Tulameen (Princeton/Keremeos)
- Revelstoke/Golden
- the Okanagan
- the Interlakes Area (vicinity of 100 Mile House)
- Merritt
- Hwy 16 West of Prince George
- Calgary/Edmonton corridor
- North of Edmonton, Calling Lake, High Prairie, Grand Prairie
- Saskatoon and Lakes regions
- Manitoba
- Also, we expect recreational pockets in Washington and Oregon to do well, especially closer to the northern border as the strong Canadian dollar will make recreational properties in the US more attractive to Canadian buyers.
There continues to be a shortage of housing as boomers re-locate from bigger cities and from Alberta plus, there is a dire shortage of skilled construction and framing labour which makes building the Winton Global Homes way - using pre-cut floor systems, pre-build wall panel and engineered trusses - all the more important.
To watch an independent, 3rd party video that shows how building with pre-framed components helps cut framing labour by up to 40% click here.
